Children, Not Soldiers campaignĬanada has provided $2 million to UNICEF’s Children, Not Soldiers campaign. Canada was an early supporter of the Office of the Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict and currently provides funding to the Office. We hosted the first International Conference on War-Affected Children in 2000. Raising the profile of the issue of children and armed conflictĭuring Canada’s tenure on the United Nations’ Security Council in 1999-2000, Canada introduced the first thematic debate on children in armed conflict.
